Magic in The Moonlight is another comedy directed by Woody Allen which is also placed in the beginning of XX century (just like a lot of scenes in Midnight In Paris), in the beautiful south of France.
It's about the illusionist, who is played by a legendary british leading actor Colin Firth. He doesn't believe in anything magical in life, he's sceptical, pesimistic and incredibly sarcastic (but that brings many many moments of laugh) and one day his friend tells him that he had met a woman (Emma Stone) who claims herself to be a medium. People actually believe that she has a contact with the spirit world and they are truly convinced about it, especially that she knows the facts nobody knows. He meets her and tries to prove everyone that she's a fake. But the story is going to go into a completely opposite direction...
I really enjoyed the film, it was incredibly relaxing and heart-warming, it had beautiful landscapes of Provance and French Riviera, brilliant dialogues, subtle sense of humour and the charming roles of Colin and Emma. It left me with a great mood and I loved the message, it simply encourages people to look at everything in life from the bright side. Even though life may have no exact purpose, one has to enjoy it. These times it's hard to find a truly intelligent comedy. It's now my favourite film from Woody Allen along with the Midnight in Paris which I highly recommend, especially if you look for something to cheer up and get relaxed after a hard day at work.
